Solar Opportunity
With a large south facing roof and rising energy bills, the manager at Brent Sikh Centre approached Echome hoping to find a sound investment for congregation donations. Due to the temple’s large roof, high daytime energy demand, and the excellent Feed-in-Tariff rates, a 25kW solar system was soon agreed upon by the manager Avtar and an Echome consultant, and the project progressed quickly to installation.
The Solar Specification
250W Suntech photovoltaic panels were selected for their cost/efficiency benefits. 15kW (60 panels) was installed on the main temple building, with 10kW (40 panels) installed on a nearby building that shared good exposure to the sun. Both systems are managed by Fronius inverters, which effectively harness the power generated by the 100 solar cells, so that the electricity generated can be used to power the temple.
